Rooms and Reservations

Nonprofit and community organizations serving the Madison community may use Library meeting rooms free of charge during regular Library hours for educational, civic, and/or cultural programs in keeping with our mission to “improve the quality of life for all Madison residents by providing access to information, fostering lifelong educational and cultural learning, and cultivating relationships among our residents through the exchange of ideas.”

Businesses and individuals who request private use of meeting room space will be charged an hourly fee of $25/hr. All after-hours use will be charged an hourly fee of $100/hr. Approval of after-hours requests is contingent on staff availability. 

Available spaces include:

East River Reading Room

The East River Reading Room is a local history exhibit space and conference room for ten.

Johnson Community Room

The Johnson Community Room, our largest program room, seats 54 at tables or 90 with chairs only.

It is located on the first floor, the first door on the right when entering from the parking lot.

Lifelong Learning Room

The Lifelong Learning Room is perfect for meetings and workshops. It can accommodate up to 27 people seated at tables.

North Conference Room

The North Conference Room — seats 12.

It is located on the second floor, just past the Teen Room.

Old Post Office

The Old Post Office is a separate building on library property. Public meeting space only includes the first floor of the building.

It can accommodate 25 seated or 40 standing. 

Stone Patio

The tented Stone Patio is also available for reservation (seasonally) — it can accommodate 50 people standing or 30 seated.
