Summer Drop-Off Program @ Scranton 2026

Sign-ups for the fourth summer of Scranton Library’s free Summer Drop-Off Program for children aged 5 to 12 will begin on Thursday, February 12th, at 5:30 p.m. (in-person). On Friday, February 13th, a limited number of spots will open for online-only sign-up. All sign-ups are first-come, first-served. Enrollment will be limited to one week per child, and the program will be divided into two age groups:

5-8 years old:

  • 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. the weeks of July 6th & August 3rd  
  • 12:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. the weeks of July 20th & July 27th
  • Both sessions will be for 5-8 year olds the week of July 13th

9-12 years old:

  • 12:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. the weeks of July 6th & August 3rd
  • 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. the weeks of July 20th & July 27th
  • There will be no drop-off for 9-12-year-olds the week of July 13th

Children must turn 5 (or 9) by the first day of the program.

The program will last a total of 5 weeks this summer:

  • July 6-10
  • July 13-17
  • July 20-24
  • July 27-31
  • August 3-7

Children enrolled in the summer drop-off program must have a Madison, CT, address and either have their own library card or a guardian with a library card.

IN-PERSON SIGN-UPS WILL BEGIN AT 5:30 ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12th, AT THE SUMMER EXPO AT SCRANTON LIBRARY.

ONLINE SIGN-UPS WILL OPEN AT 10:00 AM THE FOLLOWING DAY, FRIDAY FEBRUARY 13TH, ONLINE ONLY. THERE WILL BE NO IN-PERSON OR TELEPHONE SIGN-UPS ON THE 13TH.

ANY REMAINING SPOTS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SIGN-UP ONLINE, IN PERSON, OR BY TELEPHONE ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH.

SIGN-UPS ARE FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED. THERE ARE 15 SPOTS PER SESSION, PER WEEK.

Remember that enrollment is limited to one week per child. If you enroll for more than one week, we will automatically cancel your enrollment for any weeks after the first calendar week you sign up.

The required forms can be completed online by scanning a QR code at the Scranton Library Summer Expo event on February 12th, or online via a Google Doc link. Forms must be submitted by June 1st, 2026. If they are not submitted, your child will be moved off the list, and someone on the waitlist will be moved up to take their place.
